Three runs, one order
Tobey Maguire led Sam Raimi's three films (2002 to 2007). Andrew Garfield followed in Marc Webb's two (2012 and 2014). Tom Holland's Spider-Man joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016. Each run is its own continuity and was released in story order, so here release order and story order are the same list.
Do I need the earlier films for the MCU ones?
For most of them, no. Spider-Man: No Way Home is the exception: it draws on both earlier runs, and it plays very differently if you have seen them. The essentials filter keeps all 9 Spider-Man films for that reason and drops only the crossovers.
The crossover films
Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame are not Spider-Man films, but the MCU's Spider-Man appears in all three and Far From Home follows on from Endgame. Untick "Crossover films" to hide them. Each one says why it is on the list.
What about the animated and Sony films?
This planner covers the live-action Spider-Man films only. The animated Spider-Verse films and Sony's other Marvel films, such as the Venom series, are not included.
How this list was made
What is included. All nine live-action Spider-Man films (Sam Raimi 2002 to 2007, Marc Webb 2012 to 2014 and the MCU films from 2017), plus the three Avengers and Captain America films in which the MCU Spider-Man appears.
Release order uses each title's first US release (theatrical for films, premiere on Disney+ for series). Story order: Each run of films is its own continuity, and each was released in story order, so story order and release order are the same list.
Essential. Essential means a Spider-Man film. The three crossover films, where Spider-Man appears in another hero's story, are optional, and each says why it is there.
Runtimes. Films use the theatrical running time. Series add up each episode's runtime as listed by TVmaze. Upcoming titles have no confirmed runtime and are left out of every total.
Where our two sources disagree, we use the figure from the title's Wikipedia article (it cites the classification board or the studio) and list both here:
Spider-Man: runtime: Wikipedia 122 min, Wikidata 121 min
Spider-Man 2: runtime: Wikipedia 127 min, Wikidata 122 min

9 live-action Spider-Man films: three by Sam Raimi, two by Marc Webb and four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest being Spider-Man: Brand New Day (31 July 2026).
What order should I watch Spider-Man in?
Release order: Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, then the MCU films from Spider-Man: Homecoming. Each run tells its story in order, so release order is also story order.
How long are all the Spider-Man movies?
The 9 Spider-Man films alone run 20 hours. With the three crossover films it is 28 hours.
Which Spider-Man movies are in the MCU?
Spider-Man: Homecoming, Far From Home, No Way Home and Brand New Day, plus his appearances in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The Raimi and Webb films are separate.
Should I watch the old Spider-Man movies before No Way Home?
Yes, if you can. No Way Home draws on characters from both earlier runs, and it is much more rewarding when you know them.
